The Commissioner has published a new Code of Practice for Public Appointments – effective from 1 August 2009
The Commissioner’s new Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies was published on 15 July 2009. The aim of the Code is to ensure that public appointments processes within the Commissioner’s remit are fair, open and transparent and command public confidence. Copies are downloadable from here.
The Code will come into force on 1 August 2009. Any public appointments process which is already underway on 1 August 2009 will continue under the old Code. All processes which begin on or after 1 August 2009 should be conducted under the new Code.
