Public appointments in Northern Ireland are regulated by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland (OCPANI) which was set up following the Report of the Nolan Committee in 1995 in order to monitor, report and advise on appointments to some 72 public bodies in Northern Ireland. The Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland shares similar objectives and procedures with the Commissioners for Public Appointments in England and Wales and in Scotland. The current Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland is Felicity Huston who took up her post on 1 August 2005.
